He has played the U.S. from coast to coast, as well as being resident studio guitarist for Falcon Blues Records and Round Rock Records. Howlin’ is an original founding member of Root Boy Slim & The Sex Change Band (Warner Bros.), and cut his first professional record with Bob Deal aka Mick Mars of Motley Crue (Hollywood Records). He has shared stage and studio with such luminaries as Canned Heat, Steve Marriott’s Humble Pie, John Kay & Steppenwolf, Root Boy Slim, Bobby Tench (The Jeff Beck Group), The Guess Who, Delaney Bramlett, The Drifters, & Hank Williams, Jr.

Bassist ‘Big’ Ben Vogel is a University of Texas student working on his Masters Degree in Music Composition.  Along with holding down the bottom for Howlin’ Waters Band, Ben also performs in the Austin area with jazz ensembles, playing upright and electric bass guitar.

Drummer ‘Rockin’ Rene’ Lopez is a native Texan with a passion for the drums, citing Mitch Mitchell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience as a major influence on his style of drumming.  Moving to Austin to pursue a Masters Degree in Percussion at the University of Texas, Rene’ continues to rock houses everywhere he plays with his hi-energy rhythms and exciting sense of timing.
